Perth Website
Design

Our Perth web design service has been making websites for local businesses since since 2007 so we’ve built up a bank of knowledge to help you get the best website outcome with value for money. Many business owners think they can do it themsleves or get their cousin or friend or themselves to give it a go. I mean how hard could it be?
The truth is building a website on your own is not quite as easy as you think: It can be expensive, mind boggling, confusing, frustrating and time-consuming. That’s why we suggest you talk to us first. We want to understand what you need from your website and then we can create a pathway for a successful online presence which starts with a great website. We have built hundreds of websites since starting Web Wizards and each one started with an in depth discussion with you, the business owner. What you want is important, what you need from a website is something we can help you discover.
Can You Handle The Truth
There are several common misconceptions that people have about building their own website:
It’s easy: Many people believe that building a website is easy and can be done quickly without any specialised knowledge or skills. Well, we haven’t found anyone yet who felt that way after they tried to build their own! In fact we have many people coming to asking for us to fix what they tried to do.
It’s cheap: Some business owners believe that building a website is a cheap and low-cost option, but the reality is that designing and building a website that looks professional and works beautifully does cost a bit more, but worth every dollar if you’ve tried and failed to DIY.
All websites are created equal: Some business owners believe that all websites are the same and that there’s no real difference between a professional website and a DIY website. As chalk is to cheese, there is reality gap when seeing a homegrown version of a website and a bespoke, crafted and coded website built by professionals.
Search engines will automatically find your new website: Building a website is simply not enough, search engines will not automatically find your website and rank it well. Search engines like Google use complex algorithms to determine which websites should rank well, and optimising a website for SEO requires specialised knowledge and expertise.
We’ll Make It Easy For You
Our Web Design Process
- The first meeting: Let’s find out about you. What are the goals, who buys from you or uses your services, who are your competitors, and how you can do better.
- The price: After we have discovered all the functions you need for your website we’ll write a detailed proposal with all costings outlined and a timeframe for you to work with. And if things need to be adjusted we’ll work on that with you.
- The design: Our graphic designer will design a website that fits your type of business, that looks unique to you, that is creative, and will appeal to your potential customers. All done in via our design process so that you can visually see and approve the design.
- Coding begins: Once you are happy with the design our developers take over. This is the geeky part of the process, the trickiest part where most mere mortals come unstuck!! The design is converted to pieces of code with all the elements from your design and the functions you require built in.
- Adding content: The nest phase is where the website comes to life with your content, these are the images, the explanations, the diagrams, the team, the products, anything that you need the world to know about how your business works or what it has to sell.
- Checking & testing: Your website is made of hundreds of different elements, it needs to look great on desktop as well as mobile, it needs the buttons and links to work, the enquiries need to come to you, the content needs to fit the page – we check it all before going live.
- Making it live: Before your website is seen publicly you get the chance to view it and test it yourself. And once you approve we do the technical jobs to make it live on your domain and launch it for customers to start finding you.
Just checking – do you have your logo and branding in place? You’ll need this before you can start your website. If not we can help. View our logo and graphic design page for inspiration. Plugins
Wordpress Websites
Web Wizards was one of the earlier adopters of Wordpress in Perth to build websites. In fact we started on 2007, only a few years after it was initially released. Now Wordpress is the most widely used platform for web development with millions of websites having been built, and still being built, using this Content Management System (CMS). /span>
One of the exceptional facets of Wordpress is the never ending plugins and addons that can be installed to fully customise your website – there is a vast community out there continually developing more addon functions for Wordpress. This gives great flexibility for your website – if you need any specific function there is more than likely a solution already built for your Wordpress site, saving you time and money.
A Step Further
Web Wizards have gone a step further – we have developed our own Wizzie Theme in Wordpress to ensure your website has a solid foundation. We don’t use pre bought Wordpress Themes, so your website is not an off the shelf design that hundreds of others have already used. It is unique to you, your business and your specifications.
WordPress is highly customizable and our exceptional team of coders can customise your site into just about anything you can dream of.We start with searching for an existing plugin to create the function you need. It is likely that something has already been developed that will do the job perfectly off the shelf. If something more complex is required there are options we can use. We can often modify or add to the plugin or within Wordpress we can create code to customise to your requirements.
SEO Friendly
One of the key advantages of using WordPress and the reason we love using it is that it is a highly search engine friendly platform. WordPress is built with clean and valid code, which makes it easy for search engines like Google to crawl and index a website. Additionally, there are many SEO plugins available that can be used to optimise a website for search engines, including adding meta descriptions, optimising images, and creating XML sitemaps.
Scalable
WordPress is also highly scalable. It is suitable for small and large businesses. We can build you a small but dynamic website when you are first starting in business or have a smaller budget and when you are ready to grow Wordpress gives us the capabilities to add to your site, whether it's to add Ecommerce, or more pages, or more functions it is all possible.
Easy To Manage
One of the biggest advantages of using WordPress for businesses is how easy it is to use and manage. Most changes on your new Wordpress website can be carried out by yourself. We can show you how to update the text and images, insert a new page, check your contact forms, post a new blog or add products. And for the parts of the website that require more expertise we can help.
Customisable
We champion the build of websites using WordPress because we know the pluses it has for businesses of all sizes. We can easily customise your WordPress website, so it can be tailored to fit what your business needs. The best part? It’s easy to manage without needing to be a tech expert. We also love that it works really well with search engines, which means it can help bring more people to your website naturally.
Responsive Website Design
When was the last time you looked on your phone for something? Probably in the last hour or so? That’s why your website has to be built responsively, which means the website you see on your desktop computer needs to look just as good and be just as readable on a mobile or smaller device.
But there’s a bit more to it than just shrinking your website. It means coding it so it rearranges itself and adjusts to be readable on a small screen.
The important thing is to keep visitors to your website staying on there as long as possible, but if they are frustrated because it is hard to read, or things are hard to find they will leave. This is especially so on a mobile.
They need to able to navigate the site easily. Can they see and click on your phone number or is too small? Is the text clear or has it shrunken down to micro size? This is what turns potential customers away.
By using responsive design coding, we can make your website user-friendly regardless of the device they are using. This is also important for Google, whose algorithms take mobile friendliness into account, which in turns helps or penalises you in the search results.
We Build Using a Responsive Framework: We use responsive frameworks like, which provides pre-built CSS and JavaScript code for responsive design. These frameworks allow us to create responsive websites quickly and easily by providing pre-built layouts and styles that adjust to different screen sizes.
We Design with a Mobile-First Approach: We follow a mobile-first approach, designing the website first for mobile devices and then scaling up for larger screens. This approach ensures that the website is optimised for smaller screens and makes it easier to adjust the design for larger screens.
Fluid Layouts: We use fluid layouts that adjust to the size of the screen. This means that the width of the website elements is defined in percentages instead of pixels, making the website adjust automatically to different screen sizes.
Media Queries: We use media queries to define different styles for different screen sizes. By using media queries, we can adjust the website's layout, font sizes, and images based on the device's screen size.
Flexible Images: We use flexible images that scale with the size of the screen. This means that images will adjust automatically to the size of the screen without losing their aspect ratio.
Font Size Adjustments: We adjust font sizes based on the device's screen size to ensure that the website's content is readable on different screen sizes.
Website Maintenance
We all want to stay healthy, even websites! In this high tech, digitally fast paced world a website needs to be maintained to keep up with technological changes, ongoing developments with plugins and constantly changing products and services.
The most immediate impact of an unmaintained website is on your website visitors. You want them to stay on your site once they get there but when visitors encounter broken links, outdated information, slow loading times, or parts of your website not functioning, it can frustrate them. This is a poor user experience and causes visitors to leave your site and potentially seek out your competitors.
This is especially true when you run an online ecommerce website. Typically a shopping cart site has more functions and plugins to create the best shopper experience - ever changing products, multiple images, orders to be placed, customers to retain and checkouts and payments systems. Multiple touch points for your buyers where potentially an unmaintained website can cause an issue and lose a sale.
Search engines like Google aim to provide the best results to their users. When a website is not maintained, it can result in broken links, outdated content, and slow loading times—all factors that negatively impact search engine rankings. This means the website may appear lower in search results, reducing its visibility and traffic.
Another important reason for keeping your site updated is to keep on the right side of Google! Google is still the premier search engine so when your website is performing as it should, that is with no broken links, or old content, or missing images, or too slow to load Google will not penalise you in the rankings.
The day Web Wizards launch your new website it's bright, shiny and pristine like any new born. Everything is up to date, like the plugins that help the functionality of your site, the content on your pages and links to images and data. But overtime things change. Your plugins can become out of date, you remove something from your website and there can be a broken link message, or missing image if you don’t monitor your website regularly.
Like most things in life websites need care and maintenance to keep functioning well. Doing maintenance helps keep your website secure and customers engaged. There are things like updating content you can do yourself, but the more technical like plugin and software updates is better done by the professionals. We have maintenance packages to help you with that.
So what actually is done during web maintenance?
Included in the Web Wizards maintenance packages are Software Updates, Security Check, Full Data Backup before updates (this is extra to the daily backups), Performance Optimisation, Fixing Broken Links and Errors and providing reports so you can see and monitor the work that is done.
Web Wizards highly recommends keeping your site maintained. Ask us about what you are able to do or the best maintenance package for your website.
Wordpress Plugins
Imagine plugins like a Swiss army tool that has multiple functions available that perform different tasks. These can be added to your WordPress website to make it even better, faster, more interesting, easier to manage and market. They're software add-ons that "plug into" your site to give it extra power.
With plugins, you can add all sorts of creative and effective tools to your website! Want to turn your site into an online store? There's a plugin for that! Or maybe you're dreaming of a beautiful portfolio or a directory website? Yup, plugins can help with that too!.
The great thing is, plugins can be like small tweaks or major upgrades on your website, depending on what you need. For example, you could use a plugin to add a WhatsApp share button to your site for easy sharing with friends. Or, if you're running an online shop website, there are plugins that help with payment gateways, shipping and marketing. , or letting customers book appointments right from your website.
This huge number of plugins available and their widespread usage clearly shows that they offer significant benefits to website owners.
Adding WordPress plugins to your website means you add to or extend the functionality of your website without extra coding. And extra coding can mean extra cost. WordPress plugins are developed worldwide by coders and developers who can see a niche or need for website owners. They then on-sell, or allow, their plugin to be downloaded to be added to websites. Getting the WordPress community involved in developing plugins means a web design and development company like ours can keep costs reduced for our clients.
But What Can They Do?
If you think of it, have an idea for what you want included on your website there is most likely a plugin that has already been developed. In fact there are over 54,000 WordPress plugins available. Knowing which ine to use is the trick.
That's where we come in. We already know the most used and effective plugins to use on most websites. But as we say - your website is unique. So we can do the research to find a plugin that does exactly what you want if not within our normal range. These are popular functions enhanced by use of their respective plugins.

You can leave comments during the design period 24 hours a day and we are immediately notified. This is super convenient for our customers and streamlines the design process. Our graphic design team can do everything from branding and logos, business cards and flyers as well as brochures, signs and of course custom web design.
How do you ensure I get the design I want?
At Web Wizards, before we start, we send a web design brief which asks all the right questions to ensure we understand what you want to help us make an awesome design. This is important to us and we make sure we get this right from the start.
What sets Web Wizards apart from other web design companies?
Web Wizards stands out from other web design companies because we create custom-designed websites specific to our client’s needs and do not use templated (pre made and bought online) designs. We do not outsource our work to overseas companies, ensuring that clients can meet and talk directly with the team responsible for designing, developing, and marketing their business online.
What platform are most of the sites developed on at Web Wizards?
Nearly all the sites developed by Web Wizards are built on the WordPress platform, which is widely used and industry-endorsed with an estimated 60 million websites built on the platform. This means it is well-supported with numerous options to build websites with almost any functionality required, and it is also favoured by Google.
What is the main goal of getting a new website?
We believe the main and most important goal of a website is to convert web visitors into prospective customers. Getting visitors to respond to the website through a telephone call or contact form is referred to as a conversion. The way we design your website is with that in mind which means making your website visually appealing, easy to navigate, that people can find the information they are looking for easily, that your phone number is prominent and clickable, that your contact forms go to the right person and your site is SEO friendly.
What kind of support can clients expect when working with Web Wizards?
Clients working with Web Wizards can expect local support from Perth-based staff members who were involved in building their website. The team includes staff who can help with web page building, graphic design, programming, content creation, email support, and how to use the Content Management System (CMS). We develop self-managed websites that are easy to use and build long-term relationships with clients.
Why is it important to invest in a well-designed website?
Investing in a well-designed website is crucial because it can literally transform a business. A properly designed and constructed website needs to be found and appealing to visitors while providing information that encourages them to contact the business, resulting in conversions from visitors to prospective customers. A badly constructed website can cost a business money in lost sales or time trying to manage it. Web Wizards builds affordable, custom-designed websites tailored to a business’s online needs and promises that the design has been created by our designer and developed by our programmers in our Perth web agency office.
